Upon successful completion of the Program, candidates will demonstrate
competence in the Interstate School Leader Licensure Consortium (ISLLC, 2008) Standards that have been adopted by the Illinois State Board of Education for the Principal Endorsement. They will also demonstrate competency in the Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC, 2011) Standards adopted by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The ELCC Standards are aligned with the ISLLC Standards. Standard 1 Facilitating a Vision of Learning An education leader promotes the success of every student by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by all stakeholders (ISLLC 1.0 and ELCC 1.0). Standard 2 School Culture and Instructional Program An education leader promotes the success of every student by advocating, nurturing and sustaining a school culture and instructional program conducive to student learning and staff professional growth (ISLLC 2.0 and ELCC 2.0). Standard 3 Management An educational leader promotes the success of every student by ensuring management of the organization, operation, and resources for a safe, efficient, and effective learning environment (ISLLC 3.0 and ELCC 3.0). Standard 4 Collaboration with Families and Communities An education leader promotes the success of every student by collaborating with faculty and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources (ISLLC 4.0 and ELCC 4.0). Standard 5 Acting with Integrity, Fairness, and in an Ethical Manner An education leader promotes the success of every student by acting with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner (ISLLC 5.0 and ELCC 5.0). Standard 6 Political, Social, Economic, Legal and Cultural Context
An education leader promotes the success of every student by
understanding, responding to, and influencing the political, social, economic, legal, and cultural context (ISLLC 6.0 and ELCC 6.0). Standard 7 Administrative Internship The internship provides opportunities for candidates to synthesize and apply the knowledge and practice and develop the skills identified in Standards 1-6 through authentic experiences that are field-based, standards-based, sustained, and guided by qualified on-site mentors for graduate credit (ELCC 7.0).
