Reading We will continue to read Mr. Poppers Penguins. We will continue writing in our
Reading Response Journal this week. Please refer to the directions glued to the inside cover of
your students journal if needed and help your child include details, answering a different type of
question each week.
Vocabulary We will continue learning vocabulary words and their corresponding definitions.
The vocabulary words and their definitions will be entered into each students agenda on
Monday. There will be a vocabulary test on Friday covering the following words: reasonable,
bystander, lather, credit, astonished
Writing The students will begin writing the first paragraph of their animal habitat research
paper.
Math The students will continue to learn about fractions in Unit 6. On Friday, there will be a
Module 18 quiz. Also, we are starting to memorize our multiplication facts 0 12. This week the
students will be learning strategies for multiplying by two. On Friday there will be a quick quiz to
see what they have memorized. I will send out an email with the details.
Science We will continue our studies on plant and animal adaptations as they relate to the
different regions in Georgia. The students will continue note taking on their individual habitat

research animals. The Diorama is due on Wednesday, February 25th along with the
research paper. On Friday, February 27th from 8:30am to 9:30am parents are welcome
to come and view the students dioramas.
Social Studies

Important Dates and information:

January 30th Winter Book Fair at KCSMA Media Center opens 8:10am.
January 30th All For Books - $1 N.U.T. Pass
February 11th Principals Breakfast at 8:15am. The details were sent in an email on
January 8th, 2015.
February 16th Correction on school calendar This date is a student school day.
