From the Desk of Rep. Dovilla

Dear 7th District Resident:

Happy New Year, and greetings from your
Ohio Statehouse!
The 131st General Assembly has convened and
a new two-year session of the Ohio Legislature is
underway. I am honored to begin my third term as
your voice in Columbus for what promises to be
another productive biennium focused on further
strengthening our great State.
This first monthly newsletter of 2015 features
information on our new House leadership team and
committee assignments. We will also provide a brief
look ahead at the biennial budget, the executive
proposal of which the Legislature will receive in
early February. In addition, well review some of our
recent activity around the 7th House District and
outline upcoming events.
Were always looking for additional items to
place on our community calendar, both as an
information service to the thousands of southwest
Cuyahoga County constituents receiving this
newsletter and as I strive to continue attending as
many district events as possible. Please feel free to
let us know about any future activities with which
you are involved in our schools, churches, civic and
volunteer organizations, or other groups. I
appreciate your kind invitations and look forward to
seeing you in the community.
Thank you for this opportunity to continue
serving you and your family in the Ohio House of

House Majority
Whip

On January 5, the House of Representatives

convened for the 131st General Assembly of Ohio.
Each new session of the Legislature provides new
hope and a fresh opportunity to advance the
peoples work at the Statehouse. I am honored to
have been joined by family, friends, colleagues, and
constituents as I subscribed to the oath of office for
a third term. Ohio Supreme Court Justice Judith
French administered the oath at the bar of the
House.
With the Ohio Constitution providing for eightyear term limits, several legislators serving
previously in leadership positions departed at the
end of 2014, including former Speaker Bill
Batchelder. I am pleased to be serving on our new
leadership team with Speaker Cliff Rosenberger, a
fellow military veteran who has ascended to the
speakers chair. Our entire House leadership on

both sides of the aisle is as follows:

Majority
Rep. Cliff Rosenberger (R-Clarksville), Speaker of
the House
Rep. Ron Amstutz (R-Wooster), Speaker Pro
Tempore
Rep. Barbara Sears (R-Sylvania), Majority Floor
Leader
Rep. Jim Buchy (R-Greenville), Assistant Majority
Floor Leader
Rep. Mike Dovilla (R-Berea), Majority Whip
Rep. Dorothy Pelanda (R-Marysville), Assistant
Majority Whip
Minority
Rep. Fred Strahorn (D-Dayton), Minority Leader
Rep. Nicholas Celebrezze (D-Parma), Assistant
Minority Leader
Rep. Kevin Boyce (D-Columbus), Minority Whip

following events:
