Greek Islands

Greece is a country surrounded by the Ionian, Mediterranean and Aegean sea. Greece is one
of the most beautiful places to sail in whole world. Great sailing conditions, beautiful
landscape and crystal blue water on those three seas are just one of the reasons why sailors
from all over the world come here for sailing. here are estimated of 1200 islands to 6000
islands, depending of the minimum size for take into account. 166 to 220 islands are inhabited
so you will have astonishing 13,676km of coastline to explore.
Islands are separated in couple of island groups, or archipelagos such as The Ionian Islands,
The Dodecanse Islands, Sporades and many more, usualy they get a name because of sea they
are locaated or by the main island of the group.

Santorini

The most popular tourist island is Santorini. Santorini is basicly what remains after an
enormous volcanic eruption that occured 3500 years ago. Today santorini attracts people with
stunning views, beautiful beaches with black and red vulcanic sand. Main sight on island is A
giant central, rectangular lagoon, which measures about 12 by 7 km.

Hydra

Island located in Aegean Sea, just between Saronic and Argolic gulf. Perfect for sailing and
visiting if you are in Athens, because it is only one hour of sailing away from Athens port of
Piraeus. Cars and motorcycles are not allowed on this island so sailing around the island is a
perfect way to discover all its unique locations.

Poros

Other popular sailing location is island of Poros, located in southern part of the Saronic Gulf
and separated from the land by only 200m wide channel. Poros makes very good sailing
destination for less experienced sailors due to less stronger winds then the winds in the
Aegean sea. Some of the popular tourists spots on island are: Sanctuary of Poseidon in the
northern part of the island, Bourtzi castle and one of many spots, museums, or famous clock
tower in the town of Poros.
