The Iloilo River Segment 5 located at Brgy. Mansaya, Lapuz, Iloilo City was a
problem because it contained pollutants unfit for dwellers.
Status as of 2014:
The estero is now cleaner and less polluted than before. We did a clean-up
drive to become models of the youth and to make a change in our society. This is
now the start of something worthwhile, the start of a pleasant and of a greener
environment.

Program Initiatives

Surface Clean-up
YES-O Officers and members did the clean-up drive at Brgy. Mansaya and Brgy.
Don Esteban last Nov. 22, 2014 and Sept. 13, 2014 respectively.

Solid Waste Management

Segregating solid wastes such as NABUBULOK, DI-NABUBULOK AT


MAPAPAKINABANGAN.

Information and Education Campaign

Symposium and Film Showing related to environmental concerns conducted last


September 2014 at JMNHS

Community Mobilization

Clean-up drive involving barangay officials at Brgy. Don Esteban and Brgy.
Mansaya, Lapuz Iloilo City last September and November 2014

Local Government Partnership

JMNHS YES-O participated in Iloilo Biodiversity and Watershed (Dec. 1-5, 2014
sponsored by PENRO, Iloilo).

Other Interventions
YES-O got involved in activities such as seminars, giving of relief goods (Yolanda
Victims) and National Science Month Celebration.
