A Dynamic Role of HAUSP in the p53-Mdm2 Pathway by Muyang Li, Christopher L.

Brooks, Ning Kon, and Wei Gei provides an analysis of the multiple pathways that
activate p53 and the specific effects of HAUSP on those networks. The experiments
conducted show that the functions of p53 and Mdm2 counteract each other. The
functionality of HAUSP is independent of the presence of p53I.e. HAUSP stabilizes
Mdm2, regardless if p53 is presentwhich shows that Mdm2 is directly regulated by
HAUSP, a deubiquitinase. This provides a feedback loop in p53 regulation, and
ultimately limits the function of p53 in response to different stresses.
