Do you love candy? I asked my friend


Roxie. I always make friends with other
people.

The Scarecrow found a tree full of nuts and


filled Dorothys basket with them, so that
she would not be hungry for a long time.
She thought this was very kind and
thoughtful of the Scarecrow.

To his astonishment, Charlie found himself
standing next to his bicycle, back where he had
entered the swamp. That was bizarre and
upsettingbut not as bad as the realization that
he was still holding the skull. He thought he
had dropped it before he raced out the door.

I hate squirrels! Thats what I was yelling
to my brother and his friend as we walked
through the woods. Get over it, he said,
youll be thanking us later.

Cindys mother, came out of her bedroom


carrying a small mirror. She peered at her
reflection as she walked, carefully examining the
lipstick she had just put on. Straighten things up
before you leave for school. Im late for work.
Im not going to school today, Cindy declared.

We lived on the main street in town


Atticus, Jem and I. Jem and I found our
father to be kind: he played with us, read to
us, and treated us courteously.

They spoke no more until camp was made.


Henry was bending over and adding ice to
the bubbling pot of beans

At the pizza place, Tony the baker was getting
the pizzas ready for baking. He flattened out a
ball of dough into a large pancake and tossed it
in the air. He spread tomato sauce on it,
sprinkled it with cheese, and shoved it in the
oven.

Jesse had felt sad all day. Jesse thought and


thought about his situation and he thought to
himself, I need to get myself together. Maria
came in the door and asked what was wrong.

We are not as close as we once were, at least


not since the argument. We were sitting in
science class when I decided to look at her
notebook. I noticed that she wasnt taking
notes.

When I went to the store, I witnessed a girl


crying on the street and I took a closer look and
saw it was my friend. I walked to where she
was and asked her what was wrong.

Emmas two twin nieces ran in the kitchen


and asked Emma to make a batch of cookies
for their class. She did, and the next day at
the bake sale, lots of children and parents
were buying her cookies.

Timmy Turner was rushing to get to school
because he was going on a field trip. Timmy
felt so happy and excited that he was going
on his first field trip of the year. Timmy
thought that everything was going to go good
that day.

I wanted to go home. I didnt want to go to


Patrices house. It didnt matter to me that Bob
was having his first teen party, my house is
where I wanted to be.
