Grading: Weekly homework assignments: 25 %. No late homeworks accepted.
Midterm I: 25 %. Midterm II: 25 %. Midterm III: 25 %
Summary: This is an introductory course in the theory and applications of functions of a
complex variable. The topics covered include: Review of complex numbers. Functions of
a complex variable. Differentiation of complex functions. The Cauchy-Riemann equations.
Integration of complex functions. The Cauchy theorem and Cauchy integral formula. Expansion of comlex functions in Taylor and Laurent series. The theory of residues. Applications
to the evaluation of real integrals, Laplace and Fourier transforms. Conformal maps and
physical applications.
