Ol November 24, 2014 SEATTLE PUBLIC SCHOOLS ‘To Whom It May Concern: would like to write this leter of recommendation for Annie Althauser. Pinehurst K-8 is an alternative school located in the north end of Seattle. Pinehurst K-8 is an inner city school with a ‘multicultural and wide socio-economic make up. Its enrollment is approximately 154 students Pinehurst K-8 is part of the Seattle School District. ‘Ms, Althauser interned from March 201 Ito December, 2011. In the spring of 2011, Ms, Althauser interned with our 5"/6" mixed aged class. In the fall of 2011, Ms. Althauser intemed as a Kindergarten/1* grade mixed aged class. Ms, Althauser has high expectations for her students, She believes all students are capable of achieving at high levels. She implemented a wide variety of instructional strategies and assessment methods that provided her with the tools to meet the needs of all learners in her classroom, After her internship, I hired Ms. Althauser as an instructional assistant working with our special education students. Ms, Althauser worked with students individually, small, and large group settings. Their MAP and MSP test scores improved drastically. In the fall of 2012, Ms. Althauser worked as a long term substitute in our special education resource room. She worked with many students with learning and emotional disabilities. Again, Ms. Althauser made a difference with these students. She taught a section of our 3” grade Everyday math curriculum and tutored after school. Ms, Althauser also coached our middle school volleyball team, ‘Ms, Althauser is the ultimate team player. Ms. Althauser attended regular District professional development workshops, IEP, 504, collaboration, and staff meetings. She is a go-getter and will g0 the extra mile for her students, staff, and community. She is willing to take risk, as she implemented numerous teaching suggestions by her mentor and university supervisor. One of the ultimate compliments for any teacher is whether I would hire her. I did hire her for an instructional assistant position and a long term special education teacher. I wished I could keep her longer but she doesn’t have the special education endorsement. Without any hesitation I ‘would hire Ms. Althauser and have no reservations recommending her for any school district or school. That school and District will gain an outstanding teacher!
