Levi Strauss

Born Loeb Strauss on February 26, 1829 in Buttenhelm, Bavaria,


Germany.
He was born into a Jewish family because of this he suffered
discrimination for his faith.
He invented blue jeans in around 1870s.
He established the 1st synagogue in San Francisco, Temple Emanu-El
Developed a patent with Jacob Davis for metal rivets on pocket and
front fly seams.
Levi Strausss jeans made him a millionaire
He later died on September 26, 1902 in san Francisco

Sewing
Paper patterns
were first manufactured in the middle of the 19th

century.

The first paper patterns were designed by Ellen Curtis Demorest.


The American tailor Ebenezer Butterick was the first to create a graded
sewing pattern in 1863.
Before WWII, most patterns were blank tissue with the notches and
holes.
In the late 1940s almost all companies switched over to printed
patterns.
