In my classroom, I believe the most important thing is to emphasize care and
kindness. My students will learn better from me if they know I care about them, and they will learn better from one another if they apply the same principle for their own relationships with others. With this in mind, it is immensely valuable to find ways to reinforce kindness amongst students. One of the ways this can be done is to have a classroom Bucket to keep full. With my students, I read How Full is Your Bucket? For Kids by Tom Rath and Mary Reckmeyer. After a class discussion, we filled our classroom bucket with drops (kind things we did, or that others did for us) and made sure to keep filling our bucket every week.
