DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

RICHARD MENDOZA
Commissioner
DEXTER C. WHITE
Deputy Commissioner

NOTICE
In 2011, the Georgia General Assembly passed the Immigration Reform and Enforcement Act which expanded
the responsibilities of municipalities to comply with the federal work authorization program, known as EVerify, and the federal Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) program. Any Contractor who
engages with the City in a contract that involves the physical performance of services must affirm that they are
registered and participate in the E-Verify program. The contractor must also continue to use E-Verify
throughout the contract period.
In accordance with state law, the City of Atlanta is required, among other things, to verify the lawful presence
in the United States of any applicant for a public benefit and verify that the applicant is legally entitled to
receive the benefit for which they are applying. Accordingly, persons or entities applying to the City for a
public benefit or renewing a public benefit should complete the affidavit, have it signed and notarized, and
provide a photocopy of a secure and verifiable form of identification prior to applying for the benefit.
Applications or renewal not accompanied by the signed and notarized affidavit will not be processed.
It is not the intent of the City of Atlanta to provide detailed information or legal advice concerning the EVerify or SAVE programs. You are responsible for independently apprising yourself of and complying with all
of the requirements for E-Verify and SAVE. For additional information on the E-Verify program or to enroll
in the program go to: https://e-verify.uscis.gov/enroll.
Sincerely,
