BRAT FARRAR

Brat Farrar is a crime novel by Josephine Tey which contains sixteen chapters. The story focuses
on The Ashby family who lived in Latchetts, in the village of Clare near England.
The members of the family are the aunt called Bee; the twins Jane and Ruth who were almost ten
and exactly the same; the parents Nora and Bill, who died in a terrible plane crashed and finally,
the twins brother, Simon and Patrick, would go to the oldest son the money belonged to Bills
wife. But the twin brother Patrick disappeared, leaving a suicide note. This family were keen on
horses.
The main plot of Brat Farrar is a man called Brat who had a difficult past leaving in an
orphanage. His aim was to be the heir to the Ashby fortune been Patrick Ashby who everyone
believed that he committed suicide when was thirteen.
Alecs main interest in an Ashby twenty-first birthday was to stop the party completely giving
the chance to Brat to come into the family fortune. Brat didnt expect to get away with Alecs
trickery for long, but everyone accepted that Brat as Patrick except Simon.
Finally, came out the truth that he was not Patrick and the murder of Patrick, which was killed by
his twin brother. While Patrick was finding the evidence about the murder, that night Simon and
Brat fought. That fight left Brat unconscious but Simon died. The priest and aunt Bee realized
that Brat was her cousin, the son of Walter Ashby. In the end, Bee and Brat went away to Ireland.
