HOLY MILAGROS!
Artist Carrie Camerons unique
collection of hand-painted custom
boots has continued to take flight
with a variety of new designs, like the
Holy Milagros! boots shown. Rich
brown leather is hand-tooled with
a traditional Western floral pattern,
while metallic hand-painted images
of Our Lady of Guadalupe are inset
into the black calfskin uppers. Even
a board member of the Houston
Livestock Show and Rodeo couldnt
resist these bold and versatile boots
($1,595). 972.989.8573,

SANTA FE SCOUT
Named for Dana Waldons hometown
and beloved dog, the Santa Fe Scout
collection is the result of the artists
passion for handbags and all things
vintage. When not on location working
as a photographer, Waldon collects
worn Najavo weavings and horse tack
and gives them new life. Transforming
them into totes, she stitches each bag
by hand and then completes
her designs with metal studs,
stones, conchos, horsehair
tassels, leather fringe, and other
embellishments. 505.660.6442,

THE ART OF THE TREE

Using wood native to the region, woodturner Jim McLain creates his artisan
vessels and sculptures from his studioin-the-round in Socorro, New Mexico.
Each piece of wood is allowed to age six
months to a year before he does the fine
turning, and sometimes McLain even
allows the wood to warp naturally if he
sees an intriguing form developing. The
artists latest series, which has been 10
years in the making, will be introduced
this summer in Santa Fe. Inspired by the
adobe ruins at Chaco Canyon, McLains
Chaco series featuring a variety of
woods, individually hand-carved brick
shapes, and colorful inset stones will
be on display at the Marigold Arts
gallery August 30 September 25.
