Cesar Estrada Chavez
Cesar Estrada Chavez was a leader for his farmworkers and made an association .Also he
quit school because of his parents .His parents were very sick. He and his parents always had to
move houses because of where they were planting their crops .Some places were very moist and
others were very hot.
Cesar was born on March 31, 1927 in Yuma ,Arizona .Cesar employed nonviolent, means
to bring attention to plight farmworkers, and formed national farm workers. After that he became
a United Farm Worker .Chavez led marches called boycotts and went on a couple of strikes.
Since he has been in those strikes. After a couple of months later it was believed he got killed on
April 23, 1993 in Luis, Arizona.
Cesar Chavez struggled through his adulthood . He experienced hardships of being a
migrant farmer. Also he experienced racial discrimination. But he is motivated by a dream of
justice and equality. Cesar dedicated himself to community organizing activities and later, to
founding the first farmworker union.
After working as a community leader in the 1950s ,Chavez made the national
farmworkers association in 1962. The union joined with the agriculture workers organization
committee in its first strike against grape growers in California in 1965. A year later the two
unions merged, and the resulting union was renamed the united farm workers in 1972. In early
1968 ,Chavez called for national boycott of California table grape growers . Chavezs battle with
the grape growers improved compensation and labor conditions would last for years.
After all that Cesar Estrada Chavez become a famous world leader. Also his union
continued after he had died. He had schools, stamps, boats, statues named after him and made to
recognize him. After he died people were still going for strikes and boycotts. Also the national
farm worker committee is still going. In conclusion, Cesar Estrada Chavez. Was a great leader. He
led his own committee . He will forever live in our world history.
