Using your notes and the support material on how to write a
comparative literary essay, choose one of the following questions
(adapted from actual exam questions) and write an essay of
approximately 1,000-1,500 words
1. Poetry excels in presenting the intensity of love. What expressions
of love have you found in at least two poems you have studied and
with what force have they been presented?

detailed consideration of the language in at least two poems discuss
how far you find this statement to be true.
3. In what ways do poets use the portrayal of nature to explore human
experience? Referring to works by at least two sonnets you have
studied, consider this use of nature.
4. Far from being limiting, choices of structure and form offer the poet
limitless scope for creative expression. Explore this statement with
reference to at least two poets in your study.
