In the 18th century, Joseph Niepce achieved the first photographic image using a camera obscura, which required eight hours of light exposure. Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, many innovations were developed including the first mass-market camera, the Brownie in 1900; Edwin Land's Polaroid camera in 1948; and the first digital camera by Canon in 1984.
