1. Comment on the positive and negative events in this case as they relate to
organizational behavior.
In the positive events of the situation, I can say that organizational behavior was
applied. Mr. Burn was recognized and honored for what he contributed to the
company for 20 years. The company was proud to have him and appreciate all he
has done. He has been an efficient employee and effective in his work. While on the
negative event of the situation, I can see that Mr. Burns was not informed personally
regarding the replacement of personnel in his district. In this case, for me,
behavioral bias was developed or was applied due to the fact that Mr. Burns is an
efficient employee. He meets the companys sales quota each year and I can see
that he is dedicated to the job he had. And I think a letter is not just enough. They
should talk to Mr. Burns first before making such decision and ask his opinion if
would grab it or not.
2. Was a human resources approach to Burns applied in this instance? Discuss.
Yes, human resources approach was applied to Burns because the company
wants to develop him more in a level of competency and become a more
responsible person knowingly that the district he will be appointed to was running
10 percent below. The company was confident to the ability and knowledge of Mr.
Burns and wants that district to achieve a better result that is why the company
preferred to transfer him to that district. Another thing is, the company recognized
and honor him for the excellent record he has given to the company.
