Poetry Explication Due Wednesday February 11

Choosing one of your two poetry interp poems, you will unfold the poem to its barest bones. By doing this, you will
pull out the theme and the poets motives behind his choices. Your explication will be 6 pages long.
Page 1 - Cover Page - title, author, your name and any background information you think necessary.
Page 2 - Poem + topical connections and summary. What does the poem explicitly say?
Page 3-5 Poem + Poetic Devices and explanations (one per page) metaphor, simile, alliteration, enjambment, diction,
punctuation, rhyme pattern, form, imagery, speaker identification, symbolism etc.
Page 6 - Romantic Elements - Which characteristics of romanticism do you find in this poem
Page 7 - Analysis. This should include a thesis, and evidence to support your claim. What is the author saying through
his poem?
On each Page 2 - 6 Your poem will need to be copied onto the paper, as seen in the following example. Each of these
pages will be titled as well.
