This line of valves employs the “free floating” ball principle. The bal is not fixed but is free to move withthe line pressure, AS a result of this feature. these valves are capable of tight shut-off wath the flow in either drection regardiess of the postion of the valve in the line, To faciitate insine maintenance, al sizes of the 8325 valves are of the three-piece %"-2" Size 3/4" Size %", 8", 'h” Valves 4" &1" Valves 1%", 18", 2" Valves ‘swing-away type construction. This consists of the wo lend adaptors and the body. The body contains all parts which are subject to operational wear and may be Femoved (swung-tree) from the lines as described below. INSTALLATION ‘These valves may be installed in any postion, utilizing standard pipe fting practices. The pipe wrench should be placed as shown in Fig, 2, . NENT markMAINTENANCE ‘Stem Packing Adjustment: If leakage is evident in stem Packing ares, tighten the stem bushing nut Ye turn. I! leak Stl persists, repeat above. Replacement ol the stem Packing is indicated if the leak is stil apparent. ‘Seal and Packing Replacement ‘There must be no line pressure on the valve at this time, Move bail to open position and remove locknut, handle and stem bushing nut. Stem bearing is removed with ‘stem bushing nut (gland). Then loosen three bolts and remove one bolt thru body. (Fig. 3B) The entire center section of the valve will swing out for access to the ball, stem, seats and end seals. The seats can be removed by placing ballin closed postion and pressing against the boll with the thumo, forcing it through the body bore and Pushing out seal. Note: care should be taken to avoid damage to the ball surface. The other seat may ow be removed by pushing it out from the inside Of the body. The thrust washer should come out with the stem. Remove stem packing, End seals are Dressed into grooves machined into both faces of the bocy and may be removed with a sharp instrument such as a pocket knife. Care should be taken to avoid damage lo the surfaces of the seal groove. MARPAC recommends replacement of all soft parts whenever the valve is disassembled for reconditioning Replacement parts can be ordered in kt form. Reassembly Press end seals into grooves on face of body. Place thrust washer on stem and insert stem into body from the inside. Turn the stem to a position with the lower stem” tang tits parallel to the ball cavity of the body. Install the ball and leave it in the closed position. Then evenly torque up the bolls by tightening each bolt a litle ata time and going around 3 or 4 limes in the sequence shown in Fig, &. Torque bolts per ‘Specifications in Table |. Replace stem packing, ster bearing and stem bushing nut (see paragraph on stem Packing acjustment). Install handle and locknut Welding Ends (Socket Weld) : To keep from destroying soft parts, remove two (2) bolts, pen valve and lilt out body saction prior to welding Note: Prior to removing valve trom line, valve may be tack welded in line for line-up purposes.
