Atovaquone-Proguanil

Mechanism of action
Atovaquone-proguanil interferes with two different pathways
in pyrimidine biosynthesis that are required for parasitic
nucleic acid replication.
Clinical use
This combination of drugs is used to treat and prevent malaria.
Adverse effects
Of all the antimalarials, atovaquone-proguanil is probably the
safest, although it is also the most expensive.
