TRUNCATED OCTAHEDRON

The truncated octahedron is the 14faced Archimedean solid

polyhedron

, with faces

and Wenninger model

. It is alsouniform
. It has Schlfli symbol(The

Schlfli symbol is a recursive description, starting with a p-sided regular

polygon as {p}. For example, {3} is an equilateral triangle, {4} is a square and so
on.A regular polyhedron which has q regular p-sided polygon faces around
each vertex is represented by {p,q}. For example, the cube has 3 squares around
each vertex and is represented by {4,3}.)

The dual polyhedron of the truncated octahedron is the tetrakis

hexahedron. The truncated octahedron has the octahedral group of
symmetries. The form of the fluorite ( ) resembles the truncated
octahedron.

Rhombic triacontahedron
In geometry, the rhombic triacontahedron is a convex polyhedron with
30 rhombic faces. It has 60 edges and 32 vertices of two types. It is a Catalan

solid, and the dual polyhedron of the icosidodecahedron. It is a zonohedron

Disdyakis triacontahedron
In geometry, a disdyakis triacontahedron, or hexakis icosahedron is
a Catalan solid with 120 faces and the dual to theArchimedean truncated
icosidodecahedron. As such it is face uniform but with irregular face polygons. It
looks a bit like an inflated rhombic triacontahedronif one replaces each face of

the rhombic triacontahedron with a single vertex and four triangles in a regular
fashion one ends up with a disdyakis triacontahedron
