To Whom It May Concern:
During the 2013-2014 school year, I had the privilege of having Taylor Sides in my
classroom. She started observing my classes and then quickly went to teaching each
class period she was here something that she asked to do and I fully supported.
Teaching my class is not an easy task. I teach 7th and 8th Grade Gateway, a reading
intervention program for students who are two years behind in their reading levels.
Each class is a two-hour block and focuses on seven important literary skills. These
skills include Making Connections (connecting a personal connection to a text),
Developing Vocabulary, Practicing Fluency, Building Word Study Skills, Reading
for Understanding, Applying the Conventions of English, and Writing with
Purpose.
Taylor did a fantastic job at jumping right into the experience. While observing she
always was willing to help me with anything that I needed done, especially helping
the students understand the lesson and keeping the students data (in terms of
progress in the class) up to date. Then, when Taylor started teaching the classes, the
students did not miss a beat. She took time to fully understand the program and, as a
result, delivered lessons effectively. She is a hard worker and is very dedicated to
being the best teacher she can be. She also developed a strong rapport with students
and staff. I am confident that Taylor would be a successful teacher.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I can be best reached by my
