Ten years ago I repeatedly asked Alderman

Pat OConnor to stop the OHare

Modernization Plan. I demanded a study that would show how the increased
jet noise and air pollution would affect the value of our homes and the quality
of our lives. He told me I was the only one who was worried. I was the only one
complaining.

He voted yes to build two new east-west runways. Now 70% of all incoming
jets fly over the 40th Ward a 500% increase. He did this to his own ward. He
did this to us.

I would have fought tooth and nail to stop the OHare Modernization Plan. I
would have organized residents from the 40th Ward and all points in between
to fight its passage. There is a fair way to increase revenue from OHare. This
wasnt it.
