WHAT IS ENERGY ?
Energy is the ability to do work .
The unit for energy is joule (J)
Various forms of energy.
Examples :

Potential energy
Kinetic energy
Heat energy
Light energy

Formula :
Kinetic Energy (KE) = mv2
EXAMPLE :
A 16 kg trolley moves with a velocity of 4 ms-1.
Calculate its kinetic energy.
Kinetic Energy (KE) = mv2
= x 16 x 42
= 128 J

m = 16 kg
v = 4ms-1

Formula :
Potential Energy (PE) = mgh
EXAMPLE :
A 1.5 kg box is raised from the ground to a height
of 3 m. Calculate its potential energy.
[Given g = 10 ms-2]
Potential Energy (PE) = mgh
m = 1.5 kg
= 1.5 x 10 x 3
h = 3ms-1
= 45 J
