Walgreen Company
Introduction
The Walgreen Company is a drug retailing chain in US. Walgreen started in 1901 by
Charles Walgreen Sr. with just 1 store. Within 9 years the company grew to 100
store and went public with its first stock offering in 1933. Walgreen expanded
globally in 1946 by acquiring Sanborn which it sold in 1984. It extended to Puerto
Rico in 1960. In 1981 they installed intercom computers and connected all the
stores in the chain with satellite. In 2006 they acquired Happy Harrys drugstore
chain and in 2007 they acquire Option care. By 2010 they reached a total of 8046
stores located in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. In 2011 it
announced the acquisition of Drugstore.com.

Strategic plan
The patient protection and affordable care act is going to cover 32 million people at
a cost of 938 billion and is significantly opportunity. The company is already doing
well so its main focus should be to get as many people as it can. They should also
come up with something new because the expected demand for drugs is high.
