SWOT Analysis
Strengths
I was able to produce a sound reinforcement plan that includes a musician list of
requirements that described timescales for set up and the equipment they needed.
I was able to produce health and safety requirements for setting up a PA system.
I created a detailed floor/flow plan that clearly shows the layout of the venue and
where all the equipment needed to be set up ready for the event.
I presented the written sections of this unit in a clear and professional manner.
Weaknesses
We initially had some problems with feedback from the speakers (high-pitched
static)
Opportunities
I learned how to set up and use a mixing desk.
I had a chance to develop my group-working skills.
I had a chance to visit Theatr Ffwrnes which further expanded my knowledge of the
technical side of the music industry.
Threats
I must remember in future to make back-ups of my work, so that if a piece of
equipment failed I would not lose everything.
We had performers who altered the levels of the sound desk without my knowledge.
Conclusion
I believe that, overall, I have achieved a Merit for this unit because:
I produced a flow/floor plan that describes the accommodation and resources to be used.
I also produced, with support, a schedule with timescales identifying the order that the
equipment would be set-up. I was also able to produce musician requirements with the
equipment they needed as well.
I followed correct procedure in setting up the sound reinforcement equipment for RSL
Night 2013 held in Bryngwyn School on the 5th of February 2014. I demonstrated
awareness of potential hazards in terms of human safety and safe care and usage of
equipment.

I completed sound checks beforehand of the event, which included micd performers and
DId instruments and dismantled the PA system making sure that all equipment was
accounted for.
I demonstrated good evaluation skills when considering how well the PA set up went. I
gave a clear self-assessment of the strengths and areas for development with some goals
for development.
