RELIGIOUS
Teachers in multicultural classrooms must be
open to their students and put forth the effort
needed to get to know their students inside and
outside of class.
If a teacher is hesitant about being open, the
students will become estranged from one another
and the teacher.
In order to be open, teachers must be interested
in their students, fearless, willing to try new and
different things, sure of themselves in order to
avoid taking things personally, and nonjudgmental of his or her students

EXAMPLES
A teacher should be aware of the dos and donts of
the various culture in his or her classroom.
Teacher must be able to communicate with the
students in order to know what are the sensitive
issue of a particular religion. (ethnocentric)
They can also do some reading on every culture and
get to know more about them.
Say for example, in the Malaysian multi- cultural
classroom, Muslim children are accustomed not to
touch the boys or vice versa.
By having enough understanding of the religion, the
teacher will be able to avoid this issue from occurring
and thus a friendly environment is achieved

COMMUNICATION : USE OF
DIFFERENT LANGUAGES
The use of different languages in a multicultural classroom can cause misunderstanding
among the students and will eventually lead to
segregation.
In order to overcome this issue, teacher must
make sure that the students are able to
communicate in one or two common languages.
For example, in Malaysian classroom, English
and Malay language should be made as a
compulsory tool of communication despite
various races in one classroom.
