    Oppositionisgenerallyinreferencetothecosttotaxpayersandtheeffectsonalready
    establishedpreschoolsinthearea.TMJ4citedthatmanyprivatedaycarecentershave
    alreadyestablishedflourishing4Kprograms,andAlexMazur,ownerandoperatorofKids
    RuleAcademy,toldTMJ4,Theyregoingtomakeabigmistake.
    Althoughitmaynegativelyimpacttheprivatesector,itisclearthatMTSDislatetojoin
    the4Ktrend.AsreferencedintheMTSD4Kproposal,91percentofWisconsinpublicschool
    districtshave4Kprograms.
    Theproposalalsonotesthatthedistrictcannowappropriatelycompetewithlocal
    privateschoolsthatofferearlychildhoodeducationoptionstorecruitandretainstudentsin
    oursystem.Withthiscompetition,thestatesfundingcouldincreasebasedonstudent
    enrollment.
    AccordingtoMequonNow,MaryCyrier,schoolboardpresident,said,
    "It'ssoimportant
    thatthesoonerwecangetstartedhelpingandsupporting(studentswithspecialneeds),the
    moresuccessfultheyaregoingtobe.Ithinkweoweittoallofourkids."
    Dr.DemondMeans,superintendent,explainedtoTMJ4thatnotallfamiliesinthearea
    canaffordaprivate4Kexperience,andbelievesitisMTSDsobligationtoprovidethat
    opportunityforfamilies."private4Kexperience,andbelievesitisMTSDs

    Mrs.JenniferZortman,mathteacherandMequonmother,agreesthatthedistrictcan
    benefitfromthisnewaddition,saying,Thisprogramwillallowchildrentohavearichand
    impactfulpreschoolexperienceaswellaskeepourdistrictcompetitivewithsurrounding
    NorthShoreDistricts.
