Retiring in Style

The mediocre teacher tells. The good

teacher explains. The superior teacher
demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.
- William A. Ward
It was a bittersweet Tuesday for students and teachers
Seafield-wide as our dedicated Datin Zaleha, the principal of
our school, called it a day on April Fools, which also coincided
with her birthday. Her retirement was laid out in a series of
events starting weeks before, including cooking with the PRS
team and spending time with the prefects, leading to a fullscale event in the school hall.
Along with performances by various parties, including the
choir and choral speaking teams, gifts were presented to our
headmistress, carefully chosen by the societies, uniformed
units as well as other bodies of SMK Seafield. A fusion dance
followed suit, presented by students adorning costumes of their
cultures and the prefects, who performed their well-known
Happy dance, received standing ovations from the audience.
Afterwards, the school cheerleaders carried out their latest
routine.
After a banquet for the teachers in the old school hall,
Datin Zaleha waved farewell to her beloved students as her
Ford Thunderbird rolled out of the school, heading on to the
next stage of the ever-persistent cycle of life.

Soon Chee Yen, 5 Urbain.
