Where Im From

Taylore Moody

I am from the bottom of ice cream tubs, from Heinz and otter pops
I am from the clean rooms and nicknames
I am from the marigolds under papas fence, the double tree my brother
and I climbed as children, and the tree hit by lighting in Aprils front
yard
I am from the Christmas Eve parties and happy families who stay
together, from Kimberly and Chalmers and Moody
I am from spilling nail polish and oops I did it again
From stay in bed or you cant wear a skirt tomorrow and eat your salad
I am from the book of Mormons on my shelf that reminds me to choose
the right
Im from Orange Park, Florida and Scotland, Fried Chicken, and
Velveeta dip
From the broken fingers of my father, the whole in the wall, and the 100
chew of my Mammer before swallowing
I am from the Christos on the mantel, the many boxes of childhood
memories in my parents closet capturing our youth to be opened by my
children to come. I am from the scars all over my body that gives me
strength each day I live.
