Procedures in developing a Disaster Recovery Plan

This document will cover the procedures of each step for creating a Disaster recovery plan for a company that
provides software and hardware services for your small business. Use these steps as a resource to address any
preparations needed for the implementation of the DRP for your company. If you have any questions please contact

Important steps
1.

Data storage and recovery:

The company should conduct regular system saves to an external memory device.
This device needs to be kept in a safe and locked up off site. In the case of a disaster the systems
information can be restored.

2.

Centralized and distributed systems recovery:

One copy of the save needs to be kept at the companies main office with the server and one Computer
Server Corporation

3.

Emergency management and decision making:

There should be a couple of people on both sides of the server that are in charge of the DRP. A couple on
the secretarial service companies side(Most likely IT department or the CEO) and a whole department on
the system providers side.
Computer Server Corporations side will run regular disaster recovery tests and dry runs with the company to
ensure minimal downtime in the event of a disaster.
These departments should always have someone on call 24 hours a day that can work remotely to recover
the system promptly.

4.

Customer services restoration:

5.

The DRP will provide all the precautions to provide minimal downtime for the end user. In the event of a
disaster a failsafe server will be set up to run in the place of the one that is down temporarily to provide
minimal end user downtime.
Network Backup:

The DRP will include ways network connectivity will be recovered.

Backup network switches, firewalls and routers should be on location just in case the hardware failure.
After implementing these steps the Disaster Recover Plan for your company will be in place. We look forward to
working with you this year and making your business safe and secure.
