1) A magician performs a trick where a spectator deals cards from a deck face down into a pile, leaving one card face up partway through. When that face up card is turned over, it has a different colored back from the rest of the deck.
2) The trick is performed using a double-backed card with red on one side and blue on the other placed on top of the deck.
3) During the performance, the spectator deals through the deck face down and leaves one card face up. After placing the remaining cards down, the magician reveals the face up card has a blue back different from the rest of the red backed deck, showing the selection was not free.

each card face down. He deals through the complete pack in this manner forming a face down pile. At any point he leaves a card face up. When the face up card is removed and turned over it has a different colored back from the other 51 cards. SET UP: This trick is self working and packs a huge punch. All you need is a doublebacker red/blue on top of the deck red side up. PRESENTATION: Hand the deck to the spectator after a false shuffle keeping the double card on top. Have them run through the deck turning cards face down have them stop and leave one card face up and begin turning cards face down again. Lets move the trick along a little and why dont you place the remaining cards face down on the deck. This being done you are so far ahead. Show the deck fanned one card face up in a red backed deck. Withdraw the single card and place it on top of the deck. Again emphasize the free selection and the red backs slowly do a double lift and turn over showing the blue backed card. Lift the double backer from the deck as a single card showing the blue back. Lay the blue back - back on the deck do a double lift and turn over once again showing the selection and you are done. NOTES: For clean up rub the selection against its mates and have the blue color change back to a red backed card and convince the spectator it was all an illusion and fan the entire deck of red backs.
