Influencesofcarbodyverticalflexibilityonridequalityofpassengerrailwayvehicles

All studies agree that the car body bending modes are the most important factors that significantly
influencetheverticalridequality
verticalbending,diagonaldistortion,andtorsion,whichwereconsideredthemostimportantmodeswith
respecttocarbodyHowever,allstudiesagreethatthecarbodybendingmodesarethemostimportant
factorsthatsignificantlyinfluencetheverticalridequality.
MethodsforReducingVerticalCarbodyVibrationsofaRailvehicle
Typicalflexiblemodesthatareinterestingwhenfocusingonverticalridecomfortarethefirstbending
mode,firsttorsionmodandthefirstsocalledbreathingmoderesultingfromcrosssectionshear.
Normallyfrequenciesforthefirstflexiblemodeslieintherangeof815Hz,howeverdependingonthe
vehicleconfigurationandsettings
Thehumanbodyismostsensitivetoverticalvibrationsinthefrequencyrange410Hz.

Ascanbeseenfromfigure1.Whentheflexibilityistakenintoaccountthereisthenhigheracceleration
amplitudes. The dominating frequency can be estimated to about 10 Hz, a vibration frequency that
significantlyinfluencesthehumanridecomfort,orratherdiscomfort.
