Chainsaw Carving Competition Rules

1. Entry deadline: Saturday, June 27, 2015
(subject to space availability)
2. Log deposit of $25.00 must be paid by the deadline.
3. Carving will be done with a chainsaw only.
Main piece will remain property of the carver.
4. No burning or coloring of the main piece or quick
carve until after the judging/auction.
5. Signed Waiver must be submitted.
6. All equipment must be operated in a
safe/responsible manner.
7. Carver to come equipped with the following:
Tools, Personal safety gear, Fire extinguisher, and a
10x10 or larger canopy tent with safety netting
8. Carvers may display previously crafted carvings for sale.
9. The quick carve piece will become the property of
the SBWF and will be auctioned off to the attendees of
the festival. Proceeds from this auction will be
property of the SBWF except for the proceeds from
the top grossing piece in the auction. The top grossing
piece proceeds will be split 50/50 with the carver of
that piece and the SBWF.
10. Logs for both carvings will be supplied.
11. Theme of carving will be Nature, Wildlife, or Waterfowl.

Goal of Event:
To inspire in our visitors awareness
and appreciation for the beauty and
variety of Michigans waterfowl and
wildlife that depend upon wetlands
for their habitat.
To provide a new exhibit for visitors to
enjoy inside the DNRs Saginaw Bay
Visitor Center
To introduce visitors to a new form of
recreation that gives value to the
wildlife of the wetlands: "chainsaw
nature and wildlife carving.
To give local artists an opportunity to
display and share their artistic
creations with others.
