SMART Goals

SMART goals are a good way to set tutoring goals. A SMART goal is:

Specific: The goal answers the questions: Who? and What?

Measurable: The goal answers the question: How can successful


attainment of the goal be determined?
Attainable: The goal is realistic and can be achieved through
tutoring in a reasonable amount of time.
Results-oriented: The goal is important to attainment of the tutee's
long-term educational goal.
Time-framed: The goal has a clearly defined timeframe, including a
date for attainment.
