CYSTIC FIBROSIS
FOUNDATION
ADDING TOMORROWS
To Whom It May Concern:
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects approximately 30,000 children and adults
nationwide. The disease compromises the respiratory system and digestive tract of those
affected, bringing difficulty to ordinary activities like eating and breathing. CF often leads to
chronic lung infection, and there is no cure.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a nonprofit donor supported organization, helps fund landmark
research to support the cure and control of this disease. When the organization was founded,
the median predicted survival age of CF patients was approximately 10 years old. Today, thanks
to research and care supported by the Foundation, many people with CF are living into their
30s, 40s, and beyond. The Foundation receives no federal funding to accomplish its aggressive
20als, and it is largely through the generosity of community-minded organizations that the fight
against CF continues its promise and momentum.
{tis through annual donor supported events that the Western Pennsylvania Chapter of the
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation generated funding in support of the Foundation’s mission. We
recognize that your company, as a participant in this respiratory care program, extends itself to
a similar audience. Because of this, we invite you to learn more about cur organization and get,
involved with the mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
There are many ways in which you or your company can help us add tomorrows for those living
with CF. We invite you to learn more about our corporate sponsorship, participation, and
opportunities for events like XTreme Hike, CF Cycle for Life, and all of our twelve community-
oriented Great Strides walks. To discuss these and other opportunities further, we encourage
you to schedule a mecting in the near future. If this is something that interests you, please
