February 16, 2015 Mike Garcia Tutor Mesa Public Schools Mesa, AZ 85201
Dear Mike Garcia:
I am writing to be an AVID tutor as advertised on the Mesa Public Schools Website. I am currently a student at Arizona State University studying Parks and Recreation Management. I am confident that I am the ideal candidate for this position as I myself went through and graduated from the AVID program and know how tutorials work and what their purpose is to the students. My current job as a Recreation Leader allows me to lead and manage groups of students that contain anywhere from twenty to forty student at one given time. Not only do I play games with the children I help them with their homework and use the AVID tutorial process to do it, instead of just giving them the answers to the problem I ask them questions that lead them to their answer so that they can get a better understanding of what they have to do in future problems. Also by being a former AVID student I can provide my insight on the tutorial process worked me and how it can be used once they are in college. I am confident that my experience as a Recreation Leader, my knowledge of how the AVID program works and how the tutorial process works that I am the ideal candidate for this position. I have attached my resume, references and a link to my profession portfolio. Thank you for your consideration; I look forward to hearing from you.
