Reading We will continue to read Mr. Poppers Penguins. This week we begin reading about
our second Roosevelt. Since we do not have enough resources for the whole class (even with
those who are using their tablets to access the books), half the class will be reading about
Eleanor first and half will be reading about Franklin first. The students have really enjoyed
learning about the Roosevelts so far. I went to Warm Springs, GA last summer and was able to
share pictures from The Little White House.
Vocabulary We will continue learning vocabulary words and their corresponding definitions.
The vocabulary words and their definitions will be entered into each students agenda on
Monday. There will be a vocabulary test on Friday covering the following words and definitions:
shrill: high sharp piercing sound, temptation: A state of being tempted, usually to do
something wrong, berth: a place to sleep on a ship or train, protest: display of unwillingness or
disapproval, conference: a meeting or discussion, or an exchange of opinions
Writing This week students will continue their rough draft for their Georgia Animal research
paper. They are taking notes in Science and then using these notes to construct paragraphs in
Writing.
Math We will be continue our study of fractions in Module 20. The students will also be taking
multiplication quizzes based on which facts they are trying to master (they are either working on
their twos, fives, or nines). I will give the multiplication quiz on Friday (subject to change).
Remember this isnt for a grade.

Science We will continue our studies on plant and animal adaptations as they relate to the
different regions in Georgia. This week we are studying changes in the different habitats and
regions of Georgia. The Diorama is due on Wednesday, February 25th along with the
research paper. On Friday, February 27th from 8:30am to 9:30am parents are welcome
to come and view the students dioramas.
Social Studies We will continue to learn about FDR and Eleanor Roosevelt.
