2. Installation
===============
Before installing Heroes of Might & Magic V, please verify that your computer me
ets the minimum requirements. Close all other programs.
1. Place game installation disc into disc drive (or double click on disc drive i
con), and wait for autorun program to launch, then choose 'Install' button on au
torun screen. Also you may do it by performing following instructions:
"My Computer" -> right click on you disc drive icon -> choose 'Open' in floating
menu -> run Setup.exe;
or:
use Windows "Start" button -> "Run..." -> enter in command line "disc drive lett
er:\setup" -> press 'OK' button.

2. Choose your language.


3. Following install shield instructions.
DirectX 9.0c must be installed.
Upon installation you can run game either from windows start menu ('Start' -> 'A
ll Programs' -> 'Ubisoft' -> 'Heroes of Might and Magic V' -> 'Heroes
of Might and Magic V') or use 'Heroes.exe' file from the game installation dire
ctory (By default, the game will be installed into
"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Heroes of Might and Magic V").

4. Game Saves
=============
Saved games are stored in a special folder within the current user's "My Documen
ts" folder. This folder can be found by following path:
"My Documents" -> "My Games" -> "Heroes of Might and Magic V" -> "Profiles" -> f
older with user profile name -> "Saves".
5. Troubleshooting
==================
5.1 Outdated or incorrect video drivers may cause some issues. Before contacting
support, please check you have the latest versions of video drivers and
correct DirectX 9.0c version for you system. Lastest version drivers you may tak
e at:

DirectX 9.0c version may be found on the game installation disc.
5.2 Also, before launching the game, make sure what no other programs are runnin
g.
5.3 The game does not support playing through http proxy. The player needs direc
t (real IP) or NATed (most intranets) internet connection. In case of
firewall the player needs to open some ports. Here are they:
6668 TCP (IRC servers(chat in lobby))
40000 to 42999 TCP (Various Ubi.com servers)
44000 UDP (CDKey servers)
45000 UDP (NAT server)
42500 UDP ( CDKey local port, can be configured by player through game config fi
les, "setvar net_ubi_cdkey_port = <desired port>", defaults to 42500)
8888,8889 UDP UDP (The Game itself, can be configured by player through game con
fig files, "setvar net_game_port = <desired port>" defaults to 8888; "setvar net
_lan_match_maker_port = <desired port>", defaults to 8889 )
5.4 To read the game manual you need Adobe Acrobat Reader. There are two english
versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader available on the disk in "Extras\Adobe\" : for
Win2k, and for WinXP. You can download other versions from http://www.adobe.com
/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
6. Known issues
===============
Video
----Switched off 'V-Sync' option in your video driver options may cause twitched ani
mations in Town if you rotate camera manually.
