LESSON: Unit 6 - Edinburgh (Lesson 2) Special uncountable nouns
TIME: 50 min.
AIM(S) OF LESSON:
- to be able to distinguish the countable from the uncountable nouns
- to be able to use them in a correct way, with the suitable verb form (in
plural or in singular)
OBJECTIVES (By the end of the lesson, students will be able to):
- Explain what a countable and uncountable noun is.
- Use correctly the special uncountable nouns
AIDS:
- Textbook
- blackboard
- handouts
Stages of the lesson
Activity 1 Warm-up
-T greets the ss and asks them how they feel.
-T asks the ss on duty if there are any absents.
-T checks the homework
Activity 2 Lead-in
-T tells the Ss the topic for the day: Special uncountable nouns
-The Ss are asked to give the teacher an example of a noun in the singular
and its form in the plural
-T listens to several examples from different Ss

Activity 3 Elicitation
-T writes the title of the lesson on the blackboard and Ss copy it in their
notebooks
-T asks them to give examples of uncountable nouns in English(in case they
are not able to do so, she asks them to give examples in Romanian)
Activity 4 Presentation
-T explains the Ss what the uncountable nouns are and gives them examples
-T asks the Ss to open their books on page 37 and read about the special
uncountable nouns (ex.3 Vocabulary)
-in pairs, Ss have to look at the nouns given there and decide if they are
countable or uncountable in Romanian->check it with the whole class.
Activity 5 Practice
-Ss will do the exercise 3b)/ pg.37 (the rest of it is their homework)
