February Meeting

Happy February! I hope all of you are keeping warm Our


next meeting will be this Thursday night at Wintzells Oyster
House on Airport Boulevard, across from Providence Hospital.
Wes Burton, from the Exploreum Museum, will be our guest
speaker. Mr. Owen, who was to present information about
the Yellow Dot program, is unable to meet with us due to
Mardi Gras obligations.

March is a busy time on our city and county calendars. Be


looking for news about our annual March outing! It is sure to
include an event and dinner.
Last, but not least, a BIG Thank You to Marilyn King for
organizing our annual bus trip to Biloxi! It was a fun day for all
due to Marilyns tireless effort to make it a success!
I hope to see all of you Thursday night!

2015 Beta State Convention


Make plans now to attend Beta State Convention! Convention will
take place Feb 27 - Mar 1 at The Hotel at Auburn University.

Grant-in-Aid
If you know a young woman studying to become an educator,
please consider nominating her for our Nora B. Hutchens Grant-inAid. Information will be given at our February meeting.

Purposes of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society


International
As members of The Society, we have agreed to be loyal to and to
actively support the Seven Purposes upon which Dr. Annie Webb
Blanton founded the organization in 1929.
The purposes of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International shall
be:
1. To unite women educators of the world in a genuine spiritual
fellowship;
2. To honor women who have given or who evidence a potential for
distinctive service in any field of education;

3. To advance the professional interest and position of women in


education;
4. To initiate, endorse, and support desirable legislation or other suitable
endeavors in the interest of education and of women educators;
5. To endow scholarships to aid outstanding women educators in
pursuing graduate study and to grant fellowships to non-member
women educators;
6. To stimulate the personal professional growth of members and to
encourage their participation in appropriate programs of action; and,
7. To inform members of current economic, social, political, and
educational issues so that they may participate effectively in a world
society.
