ABSTRACT

The mapping research area is located geographically on 7 36 40.5S 7 39 24.3S latitude and 109 43 55.1E - 109 47 12.1E longitude. It is
located administratively on Kaliputih Area and surroundings, Alian Sub-district,
Kebumen Regency, Central Java. The mapping area has total area about 30 km2.
Based on geomorphology observation, mapping area is divided into three
unit, those are Hogback Ridge Undulating Hills Geomorphologic Unit, Cuesta
Ridge Sharply-Cut Hills Geomorphologic Unit, and Denudational Fault-Structural
Hills Geomorphologic Unit.
Based on Lithostratigraphy concept, the mapping area is divided into four
unit based on the lithology which composed them, from the oldest to the
youngest, those are Interbedded Calcareous Claystone and Calcareous Sandstone
Unit, Andesit-Basalt Breccia Unit, Calcareous Sandstone Unit, and Andesit
Breccia Unit. The sedimentation processes that form the rocks have begun since
Middle Miocene until Late Pliocene.
The Geological structures in the mapping area are occurred on PlioPleistocene Epoch. This tectonic activity created fold and fault structures in this
area. The fold structures which formed were Andung Syncline, Karangtengah
Anticline, and Sijaran Syncline. Then the fault structures which formed were
Batur Reverse Fault, Bedegolan Sinistral Strike-Slip Fault, and Geligir Sinistral
Strike-Slip Fault.
