The Year 8 classes from Balmacewen Intermediate School in Dunedin, New Zealand will be visiting the Otago Museum as part of their unit on adaptations and survival. At the museum, students will learn about plant and animal adaptations in different rainforest habitats and how humans impact the rainforest ecosystem. Room 8 will be going on Wednesday, March 4th, leaving school at 11:45am and returning at 2:30pm. Students should wear PE gear and bring their lunch. Parents are asked to volunteer as helpers to supervise groups in the butterfly house.

We will be working with the educators at the Museum to look at plant and animals special features in different habitats of the rainforest and the impact of humans on this ecosystem. All classes are booked in for Weeks 5 and 6. The cost of the bus and access to the butterfly house has been charged to your school account. Some classes will also spend some time in animal attic looking at classification of animals and adaptations as well. Room 8 will be going to the museum on Wednesday 4th March . We will be leaving school at 11.45am and returning at 2.30pm. Students will wear correct P.E. gear, and will bring their lunch with them. We require some parent helpers to work alongside the groups in the butterfly house. (You can meet us at the museum, you wont need to travel with the class on the bus).
