at Crosson Clarke Carnachan Architects
have created a beach house (or ‘bach
in the local parlance) that rests on the
landscape here perhaps as lightly asit

erosion zone, where all buildings must
be removable, soo comply with the
regulations, CCCA designed the 40sqm
retreat te built on two thick woaden
sleds in order that it could be moved
{inland from the site,or pushed out to
sea and ontoabargetobe shipped toa
remote location ifnecessary.
constructed from locally grown Pinus
Radiata (the peninsula is blanketed in
forestry estates) which gives a warm
tone tothe cabinetry, walls floering
and ceilings, the house can be closed up
tightly against the elements when not
inuse. Although the footprints small,
itean accommodate a family of five
across two bedrooms (one with a three
‘tered bunk),an open plan living/dining!

space goes unused -even the childrens!
