HEAVY COATED ALL-POSITION, RUTILE TYPE,

AUSTENITIC FERRICTIC ELECTRODE GIVING 25/12/CB

STABILIZED DEPOSIT

EURO 309Cb-17

CODING:
AWS A/SFA 5.4 E 309Cb-17
CHARACTERISITICS:
A heavy coated all-position, rutile type, austenitic ferrictic electrode giving 25/12/Cb stabilized deposit.
The columbium provides resistance to intergranular corrosion. The electrode gives excellent resistance to
chemical corrosion and heat. Very smooth in running will negligible spatter. Slag detachability is
extremely easy. Weld bead is uniform with fine ripples.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS:
Suitable for joining columbium stabilized stainless steel to high alloy and unalloyed steels.
For welding AISI 309Cb type steels, straight chrome steels.
Building up mild steel to improve wear and corrosion resistance and for building up worn parts of
wear resisting steels.
Also suitable for joining stainless steel to low alloy steels and carbon steels.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR WELDING:
Keep electrodes dry.
Do not use excessive currents.
Hold short arc.
Use good fit-up on joints.
Adopt proper sequence.
Remove slag with a stainless steel wire brush.
Use dry electrodes only.
Redry electrodes at 300C for 2Hrs for best results.
