Q.01) It is required to design a knuckle joint to connect two circular rod subjected to an axial tensile
force of 75KN. The rod are coaxial and a small amount of angular movement between there axes is
permissible. Design the joint and specify the dimension of its components. Select suitable material
for parts.
Q.02) Design socket and spigot type of cotter joint to transmit reversible load of 80KN. Select a
suitable materials for the various parts and draw its neat sketch showing major dimension on it.
Q 03.) What are the assumptions made in design of weld joints? Explain types of welded joints.
Q 04.) Calculate the size of the welds required for an eccentrically loaded welds shown in figures,
the allowable stress in weld is 75 N/mm2 .
