The genus of a gecko is gekkoninae


The scientific name is gekkonidae, the scientific
name means gecko reptile.

Appearance
A geckos appearance can be tan, black, brown,
white, green, blue, orange, yellow, and the color
is used for the gecko to help blend in. A gecko is
small to medium sized compared to other
geckos, and its body is round.

Locomotion
A gecko moves low to the ground or on trees
with feet. A gecko even though it has small feet
and legs can run 30 mph to avoid snakes birds or
spiders and uses its mouth to catch prey.

Diet
A gecko eats insects, and worms using their
mouth and is a reptile. A gecko is about in the
middle of the food web because it eats worms,
and insects but does get hunted by birds,
spiders, and snakes.

Habitat and Range


A gecko lives in desserts, mountains, jungles,
rain forests, grass lands, in urban areas, and
even in houses. A gecko lives around the
equator in the southern hemisphere and north
of the equator.

adaptations
The geckos adaptations are that a geckos feet
allow it to climb up walls and its color. The
reason you would consider these adaptations is
because it helps them survive.

Life cycle and reproduction


A geckos life cycle is embryo, hatchling, juvenile,
and adult. Geckos lay eggs. The mother lays 2
eggs once she finds a male.

Behavior
Geckos are solitary animals, travel alone and
work alone, they raise their babies to a certain
age then the babies leave the parents. Also
geckos burrow underground and is nocturnal.

Defense/offence
Some types of geckos use its tail as defense.
They run and use their mouth as offence.

Enemies
The enemy of a gecko is a spider, snake, birds.
The enemies kill and eat geckos.

Survival status
Some kinds of geckos are in danger of extinction
because of predators and myths saying that
certain kinds can cure diseases.

Fun facts
A gecko is unique because of its long body , and
because it can walk up walls or anything at all.
Also there are myths that some kinds of geckos
can cure diseases such as cancer. They are also
very talented.

Classification
Geckos are classified to be in the family with a
iguana, komodo dragon, monitor lizard,
chameleon, gila monster, and a water dragon.
