Data records taken from Discovery Education testing. Students took a probe on elapsed
time. Date of testing: February 11, 2015

I analyzed the data and found the mean and median. The mean was 7.7% and the
median was 80%. Based on this data, I could be able to break the students into groups
to better differentiate the instruction for each individual groups. Any students who
scored a 70% or below, were pulled for extra review and individual attention during
Response to Intervention time. During this time, I had the students work on telling time
using a clock I made on chart paper and blocks broken into 5 increments to represent 5
minutes. We then practiced finding elapsed time using a method called: Mountains,
Hills, and Rocks. Mountains represented 1 hour, hills represented 5 minutes and rocks
represented 1 minute. The students drew out the mountains, hills, and rocks to find the
elapsed time.
