The Two- Nation Theory- Duaa

The two-nation theory states that Muslims and Hindus cannot

live together as a single nation. They are different in every way
possible. They do not inter-dine or inter- marry. The Muslims are a
separate nation in every way. The many differences between Hindus
and Muslims are the reason that Muslims must have a nation of their
own.

Quaid-e-Azam presented the two-nation theory in a similar

way. He stated that Hindus and Muslims are a different social order.
They can never be a common nationality. He said that if we dont
correct this issue and separate Hindus and Muslims it will lead to the
destruction of India. They are different in every aspect of life. The
have different heroes, different literature, different epics and man
more. He also stated that, To yoke together two such nations under
a single state, one as a numerical minority and the other as a
majority, must lead to growing discontent and final destruction of
any fabric that may be so built for the government of such a state.
Jinnah felt that it was essential for Muslims to become a separate
nation. Keeping them together would just lead to growing
discontent. This was the basis of the two-nation theory according to
Jinnah.

The two-nation theory was first put forth buy Allama Iqbal at
the meeting of the All India Muslim League in 1930 at Allahabad. At
the meeting he said, I would like to see the Punjab, N.W.F.P, Sindh

and Baluchistan amalgamate into a single state. Self government
within or without the British empire, and the formation of
consolidated North West Indian Muslim state appears to me to be
the final destiny of the Muslim at least of North West of India. Like
Jinnah Allama Iqbal also believed that Hindus and Muslims could not
co-exist. He was the one who first presented this idea.
